February 2026

1- What has writing taught you about yourself?

Writing forces me to slow down and think clearly. It has shown me that I don’t really understand something until I can explain it well, and that what matters most is the meaning behind an idea, not just the idea itself.

2 - What inspired you to write your article?

My article was inspired by the real, visible impact of government spending. Growing up in Ottawa, you don’t just hear about federal decisions: you see them in the jobs people hold, the companies that grow, and the direction the city takes. With recent increases in defence spending, it feels like we’re at a turning point that could shape Ottawa’s economy. I wanted to explore what that really means beyond the headlines and how it could affect student opportunities for decades to come.

3- Describe your writing style in three words

Focused. Analytical. Thoughtful.

Writing first taught me where my passion came from: the love of reading that my parents transmitted to me. While writing, I discovered that I had the ability to transform often mixed thoughts into structured and understandable ideas. This showed me that I could really shape my reflection and express my voice with intention.

My inspiration comes from the fact that I myself am a big consumer of Black Friday. With my friends and family, we always prepare for it well in advance, which prompted me to analyze it behind the scenes. As a finance student, I wanted to show that it's not just a day off, but a real business strategy where companies shape our perception much more than we think.

October 2025
